What is new in December 2021 firmware update for Surface Pro 7 Plus?
According to the official changelog available in the Microsoft documentation, December 2021 firmware update for Surface Pro 7 Plus improves the camera performance and fixes a bug that was causing a blue screen of death. A new graphics driver from Intel improves graphics stability and fixes various display issues. Also, there are new Surface Pen drivers from Microsoft to enable new features for the latest generation of Surface Pen. Finally, as usual with firmware updates, the firmware improves the overall stability and performance.
You can find the detailed changelog with driver versions in a post on the official Microsoft Support website. Microsoft plans to support Surface Pro 7 Plus with new drivers and firmware for four years (at least until January 15, 2025).
Microsoft says there are no known issues in December 2021 firmware update for Surface Pro 7 Plus. You can install the latest set of patches on Surface Pro 7 Plus models with Windows 10 2004 (May 2020 Update) or newer.
Keep in mind that the regular consumer-focused Surface Pro 7 and Surface Pro 8 receive firmware updates separately from Surface Pro 7 Plus due to hardware differences. Speaking of Surface Pro 8, the latest tablet from Microsoft recently received a host of improvements and new features.
