Just today Microsoft updated its PowerToys utilities to version 0.56.2. While it is a minor release with bugfixes, more to come. PowerToys Run is getting a new Time and Date plugin and an option to close windows from Window Walker.
Time and Date PowerToys Run Plugin
Time and Date is a new plugin that simplifies your work with various date formats. You can specify date and/or time or use the system time, and it will list it in various formats.
You can copy any entry in the result to the clipboard. The plugin is able to show the current date and time, day of the week/month/year, and a number of other formats.
The plugin has a few customization options. E.g. you can specify the command prefix that triggers the plugin in the PowerRun box, include or exclude its output from global result, enable or disable seconds, etc.
Window Walker Plugin
Window Walker is another plugin currently included in all versions of PowerToys. In the upcoming version, it will allow you to close the specific window or even terminate the parent process.
Besides, it will show the name of the virtual desktop the window open at, its process ID, and name, process, and desktop in the tooltip.
It will also receive corresponding options, from where you can limit the process list to apps running on the current virtual desktop, hide PID, desktop name, and enable or disable the kill process confirmation. Besides, you can prevent the plugin from killing the process tree. There is also a special option to prevent it from killing elevated processes.
Both plugins will receive the reviewed changes in the near future. The actual version of PowerToys is 0.56.2 that includes fixes for Fancy Zones. Its predecessor, version 0.56.1, has brought 128 Fancy Zones and a new way to invoke the Find My Mouse tool.
