PowerToys 0.53.3 fixes a few issues in PowerRun

Without a fanfare, Microsoft has updated PowerToys to version 0.53.3. This minor release is intended to resolve a few regressions and bugs in the included tools.

The issues were reported by app suite users. There are three of them, and all of them are related to the Run powertoy.

Microsoft says PowerToys 0.53.3 only improves stabilit. Feature-wise it is similar to the recently release PowerToys 0.53.1 with the exciting Always-on-top option that works for any window.

Today's update comes with following fixes.

What's new in PowerToys 0.53.3

  • PowerToys Run perf regression due to disabling list virtualization to improve scroll speed on some computers
  • PowerToys Run Uri plugin had an exception with a bad format.
  • PowerToys Run crashes due to duplicate key. This was due to community driven plugin having the same name as one of our plugins.

To install the update, you can download the latest PowrToys from its official Github repository using this link.  On Windows 11, if you have install it from from the Microsoft Store, you must already receive it automatically.

Also, on Windows 10 and Windows 11 can also install PowerToys using winget. The command is winget install Microsoft.PowerToys --source winget.
