Chief Product Officer Panos Panay took over as executive vice president of Microsoft and joined the corporation's senior management team, whose members are advisors to CEO Satya Nadella. Bloomberg reported this with reference to an internal email that Microsoft employees received the day before.
Panos Panay has been with the Surface product line for a long time. Moreover, it was under his leadership that this direction turned into another multibillion-dollar business of Microsoft. Panay has also been leading the development of the Windows client since February 2020, which for the first time in many years will receive a major UI update aimed at modernizing and creating OS consistency.
This appointment shows Microsoft's leadership believes in Panay's vision for Windows 11 and Surface. His approach to evolving the Surface line has always taken into account the needs of both creators and consumers, and Windows 11 looks set to follow suit.
It is also worth adding that a few years ago, Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division, joined the Microsoft senior management team. Since then, the company has notable increased its investment in the gaming direction, and in general began to pay more attention to the Xbox. Hopefully, the appointment of Panos Panay to senior management will also lead to more investment in both Surface and Windows.
