Starting January 4, 2024 Google will start disabling cookies in the browser

Google has announced that starting on January 4, 2024 they will start disabling third-party cookies in the Chrome browser among approximately 1% of users. This trial will be conducted on a global scale and will involve a limited number of Chrome users. In the latter half of 2024, Google plans to completely stop using third-party cookies for all users.

Windows 11 Build 22635.2915 (Beta) adds custom Voice Access shortcuts (commands)

Microsoft today released the last Beta build in 2023 of Windows 11 Insider Preview. Build 22635.2915 (KB5033456) adds custom command support to Voice Access with extra language and a multi-display option,  and improves  discoverability of screen casting. Besides, there are new features and improvements for Windows 365 Boot, Windows 365 Switch, and fixes.

Web version of PowerPoint now supports video captions and subtitles

In early 2023, Microsoft introduced a new feature to the web version of PowerPoint, allowing users to download and insert videos into presentations. Recently, the company has made further enhancements to this feature by adding support for titles and subtitles for videos.

Fake Russian version of 7-zip in Microsoft Store distributed malware

Researchers at the Chinese security firm QiAnXin identified a malicious installer posing as the Russian version of the 7Zip software available on the official Microsoft App Store. Despite it being uploaded in January 2023, the app was only removed by Microsoft after a series of complaints.

Windows 11 Build 23606 (Dev) includes fixes, deprecates Speech Recognition

Windows 11 Build 23606 is now available to Insiders in the Dev channel.  It is the first release that deprecates Speech Recognition and prevents you from accessing it. It also includes fixes for File Explorer and input. Finally, it is worth noting that it is the last Dev channel release 2023 - the next one will only come in 2024.
