Microsoft discontinues HoloLens 2

Almost a year after the original Hololens was discontinued in December 2024, Microsoft is leaving HoloLens 2 alone in the dark. HoloLens 2 headsets are being discontinued but will continue to receive security and bug fixes until 2027. HoloLens 2 was officially announced on February 24, 2019, at the Mobile World Congress conference in Barcelona.

uBlock Origin Lite author drops Mozilla add-on catalog support after his extension was removed from there

The maintainers of the Firefox add-ons directory (addons.mozilla.org) have removed all recent versions of the uBlock Origin Lite (uBOL) add-on. They cited violations found during a manual review of the add-on as the reason. They then acknowledged that the add-on was removed in error and restored it. However, the add-on's author, Raymond Hill, has refused to continue publishing it in the Firefox add-ons directory.

Windows 11 24H2 is officially released, along with the LTSC version

On October 1, Microsoft has officially released Windows 11 version 24H2. The new version of the OS adds a ton of various new features and improvements. Microsoft has released Windows 11 Build 22635.4291  to insiders on Beta) channel with a number of improvements. The Snipping Tool now features screenshot autosave, Task Manager's performance has been improved, and the Settings app has been slitghly refined. There are also a few fixes for Start and Explorer.

Microsoft details much improved Windows Recall security, finally allows removing it

Microsoft has announced a portion of improvements made to the Recall in Windows 11. It now includes advanced encryption and Windows Hello authentication. Its data is now secured in a VBS Enclave, making it inaccessible to third-party apps and users. Additionally, snapshots will automatically exclude sensitive information such as passwords and credit card details. Microsoft makes emphasis on that Recall does not upload any data to the cloud and can be easily uninstalled if you choose not to use it.

Microsoft Teams will soon stop working on older versions of Windows 11 and 10

The Redmond software firm has issued a notification that reveals a change in the list of supported Windows versions by the Teams app. Windows 11 21H2, Windows 10 21H2 and anything older will soon not be able to run the software. Prior to that, Microsoft Teams will display a warning starting October 15.
