Outlook Lite for Android released, as small as only 5 MB

Microsoft has released Outlook Lite for Android. The new app is now available in select countries. It is intended to be light on resource consumption, and comes with the basic functionality only. The app size is only 5 MB, while the regular Outlook app is at about 88 MB. This way, the Outlook Lite shows decent performance on budget Android devices.

At the moment of this writing, Outlook Lite is only available in the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Mexico, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and Venezuela. Microsoft aims to test it on the markets that have many low-cost devices. This will allow the company to extend its presence in these regions in mobile segment without making users work with a full featured heavy client app.

Here are the services it supports:

  • Hotmail
  • MSN Live
  • Microsoft 365
  • Microsoft Exchange Online
