Office will soon support font syncing across devices and platforms.

Microsoft posted an update on the official Microsoft 365 feature roadmap—a place where the company describes new capabilities coming soon—notifying users about an exciting feature for Word and, presumably, other Office apps as well.

Office Apps font syncing across devices

Starting this month, Office users will receive a much-improved modern font picker in Word. It will allow font pinning and syncing across devices and platforms. Besides, Office will provide users with a clear overview of all fonts in a document (including those missing and embedded).

Here is the full description from the post:

"Picking your fonts just got much easier! Microsoft Office modern font picker is a completely reimagined experience for Office. Pin your favorite fonts so you can quickly access them on any device or platform. Easily view all the fonts used in a document, including notifications for missing and embedded fonts. Choose from all the available styles for a font family, whether simply bold or italic or more exotic variants, such as condensed semi bold italic. In the Office Fonts section, see which fonts are available on all platforms and do not need to be embedded in a document. Microsoft Office modern font picker offers you the effortless typographical experience you have been waiting for."

According to the Microsoft 365 feature roadmap, the modern font picker for Office apps will become available this month, beginning with Office for the Web. The company will bring the redesigned font picker to other platforms and apps later.

In case you missed it, Microsoft is currently working on a huge redesign for Office on Windows. The app suite will receive a much-improved Windows 11-inspired UI with refreshed toolbars and new transparency effects. The update is currently available to Office Insiders in the Beta channel.
