New firmware brings Windows 11-specific battery improvements for Surface Pro 7

A couple of days ago, Microsoft released the October 2021 firmware update for Surface Laptop 2 and business-oriented Surface Pro 7 Plus. New firmware is now available for more Surface computers. This time, Surface Pro 7 and Surface Studio 2 owners can download the October 2021 firmware update.

Microsoft says the October 2021 firmware update for Surface Pro 7 enables "Windows 11 feature to improve battery life." Unfortunately, the company does not explain what kind of feature the new firmware enables and how much better Surface Pro 7 will work after installing it.

Besides battery improvements, users get graphics stability, performance improvements, and security patches.

The October 2021 firmware update for Surface Pro 7 is available for tablets with Windows 10 20H2 and newer.

What is new in the October 2021 firmware update for Surface Studio 2?

The October 2021 firmware update for Surface Studio 2, which is long overdue for a hardware refresh, contains new GPU and audio drivers.

You can download the updates on devices with Windows 10 1903 or newer.

It is worth mentioning that, unlike Windows cumulative updates, you cannot uninstall firmware patches on Surface devices. Fortunately, Microsoft says there are no known issues in the October 2021 firmware updates for Surface Pro 7 and Surface Studio 2.
