It is a touch-oriented app, with no Ribbon or toolbar or any shell extensions. It might be interesting for touch screen users. The operating system has no shortcut to launch it, so you need to create it yourself.

It is not clear when the app will be activated by default for all Windows 10 users. Currently, the classic File Explorer is the only app suggested for file management tasks in the OS.

    1. I hope that weren’t getting things thrown in two different places like with Control Panel and Settings app.

  1. Instead of a new usefull tab file manager like Directory Opus, Microsoft creates another stupid app with no function.

    Absolutely disappointed.

  2. This is just the File Explorer app used on Windows 10 Mobile. It’s probably never going to be intended for use on the desktop.
