Visual Studio 2022 for Mac brings a "truly native" macOS experience. Microsoft says developers have re-written the app using all native macOS UI controls for a more comfortable and familiar dev environment. Apart from better looks, the use of native components provides better support for assistive technologies for people with limitations and disabilities. Also, it speeds up the overall performance of the IDE, fixes bugs, and reduces the number of crashes.

Other improvements in Visual Studio 2022 for macOS include a better Git user experience with a new Git Changes window, which is now more consistent between the Visual Studio IDEs.

Microsoft also brings support for .NET 6 and C# 10 development. The company notes that developers can open .NET MAUI projects in Visual Studio 2022 on Mac with limited capabilities. Improvements for .NET MAUI (GA is on track to arrive in Q2 2022) will come to Visual Studio previews in early 2022.

Meanwhile, Microsoft encourages all developers to participate in the Developer Community and provide valuable feedback about .NET MAUI support in Visual Studio 2022 for Mac and the overall experience of using the first preview of the newest IDE from the Software giant.
