Windows 11 is now available for users, and Microsoft wants as many people to know about its latest operating system as possible. To let you know that your device supports (or does not) Windows 11, Microsoft uses a dedicated banner in Windows Update. Also, the company now tries to convince users to upgrade to Windows 11 during the Windows 10 setup experience or OOBE (out-of-box experience). Users on Reddit report spotting the offer when setting up their Windows 10 computers after reset or clean installation.
The documentation on the official Microsoft support website confirms that the Software giant now offers Windows 11 during the initial setup of Windows 10. Note that you need to connect your computer to the Internet during OOBE to get the offer. Once connected, the operating system downloads a small patch with the option to upgrade to Windows 11.
If a person decides to pull the trigger and switch to Windows 11 on the out-of-box experience screen, Windows 10 will let them finish the setup, get to the desktop, and starts downloading Windows 11. This upgrade procedure works on Windows 10 Home or Professional version 2004 (build 19041.610 or newer), 20H2, 21H1, and 21H2 (coming soon to all Windows 10 users).
It is also worth mentioning that Windows 10 will offer you to upgrade to Windows 11 only if your hardware supports the newest operating system. Devices that do not meet Windows 11 minimum hardware requirements will remain on Windows 10. Alternatively, users can clean-install Windows 11 on unsupported PCs using the official tools provided by Microsoft on the official website.
