Microsoft will reportedly release Windows 10 May 2020 Update on May 28. Earlier, it was expected to come out on May 12, 2020, but there are suggestions that it has been delayed.

Mary Jo Foley (ZDNet) reports that the delay might be caused by a zero-day vulnerability that Microsoft needs to fix before starting shipping the OS to OEMs. According to the source, the possible dates are as follows:

  • Release to OEMs/RTM: May 5, 2020
  • Availability to developers: May 12, 2020
  • General Availability: May 28, 2020

A few days ago, Microsoft has released a new Release Preview build of May 2020 Update to insiders, which is an RTM candidate for Windows 10 version 2004. Its final build is 19041, which Microsoft now updates with cumulative updates to fix minor issues and improve the OS stability.

Microsoft noted that the May 2020 Update will only get pushed automatically to a subset of Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring at first. Everyone else can manually go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and manually check for updates and choose to install the May 2020 Update.

Windows 10 version 2004, known as '20H1', is the next feature update to Windows 10, which supersedes version 1909, '19H2'. Microsoft has finished 20H1 development, so recent builds do not include a desktop watermark. It is expected to become widely available in May, 2020, and includes the following changes:
