Microsoft has finished testing the new Alarms and Clock app for Windows 10, and it is now rolling out the update for all users. Previously, a new version with the overhauled UI was available to Windows Insiders only.
The Alarms and Clock app is the first Windows 10 stock program to receive the long-rumored Sun Valley UI redesign built on WinUI 3.0. With the latest update, users can enjoy more modern and fluent UI elements, such as rounded corners, better animations, additional acrylic effects, new drop-down lists, etc. Also, there are new timer and alarm layouts, an updated World Clock, a slightly tweaked stopwatch UI, and a redesigned navigation.
Overall, the Alarms and Clock app looks and feels brand new, and it is now more enjoyable to use. Unfortunately, it is currently the only stock app with the new UI. Photos, Maps, and other apps already have some WinUI 3.0 elements (for example, rounded corners and updated menus), but they mostly remain the same with no major changes.
You do not need to wait for the next Windows 10 update to arrive to use the latest version of Alarms and Clock. It is now rolling out to all users through the Microsoft Store, and you can download the latest release using this link.
Expect more significant UI improvements to come later this year when Microsoft ship the second major update for Windows 10. The first update that will be out in a few months contains no visible changes and feels like a regular cumulative update. The second release should bring tons of visual changes to make Windows 10 more modern and similar to what is coming with Windows 10X. Still, we do not have any official confirmation from Microsoft regarding the UI upgrade in Windows 10. According to numerous sources, the company will shed more light on its plans in the coming weeks.
