Microsoft has officially announced Surface Laptop Go 2

Microsoft has officially unveiled the second generation of its Surface Laptop Go device. You can now pre-order the device starting today. First customers will receive the device on June 7th.

The price is $599, which is $50 more that the price of the previous generation.

Visually, Surface Laptop Go 2 is no different from its predecessor. It still features a 12.4-inch PixelSense touchscreen, and the body is made from a mixture of aluminum and polycarbonate. There's still no keyboard backlighting or support for Windows Hello facial recognition, but the webcam for video calls is a bit better. However, Surface Laptop Go 2 comes with four color options, Ice Blue, Sandstone, Platinum and Sage.

The device runs Windows 11 Home. On the hardware side, there is a Intel Core i5-1135G7 CPU with a Intel Iris Xe GPU. The device has
4GB and 8GB DDR4 options for RAM.

The storage has been upgraded from 64 GB eMMC to 128GB SSD with 256 GB SSD as an option.

Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.1 are the connectivity options.  There are also 1x USB-A, 1x USB-C, 3,5 mini-jack for headphones, and a  Surface Connect port.

Microsoft strives to reduce the carbon footprint of its products, the Surface Laptop Go 2 has become one of the most maintainable devices in the lineup along with the Surface Laptop Studio. Perhaps it will be easy to replace the keyboard, fingerprint scanner, display, battery, SSD, etc.

The Surface Laptop Go 2 appears to be the only new device in the Surface family to go on sale in the first half of the year. Due to the ongoing shortage of computer components, other devices are delayed.

Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD => $699
Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD => $799
