Microsoft Ends Support for Office Apps for Windows 10 Mobile

Microsoft today revealed that the company ends support for their Office apps on January 12, 2021. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote will no longer receive updates on the Windows 10 Mobile Platform.

Microsoft mentions the following changes for end users.

On January 12, 2021, you will no longer be able to install these Office apps on phones using Windows 10 Mobile and Microsoft will no longer provide the following support:

  • Technical support for issues
  • Bug fixes for issues that are discovered
  • Security fixes for vulnerabilities that are discovered.

The company also said that installed apps will continue to work. However, to ensure that you have latest security updates you should migrate to the latest all-in-one Office app and switch to Android or iOS device. The Office app provides a simple, integrated experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint all in one app with all the mobile features.
