Microsoft Edge native app is now available for Apple’s M1 devices

Native support for Mac ARM64 devices is now available in Microsoft Edge Canary channel. This means that Edge Canary should now perform better on MacBook Air (M1, version 2020), MacBook Pro (M1, version 2020, 13"), and Mac mini (version 2020).

Microsoft announced on Twitter that users can download the new version of Edge from the official Insider website. At the moment of this writing, only the Canary channel has support for the new Mac, which means it is the most untested build of the app which includes bleeding edge features.

According to reports on Twitter, this new build of Edge already shows incredible performance on the newest Apple silicon. Following the Canary channel, Microsoft will soon issue the appropriate M1 builds from the Dev, Beta, and then stable branches.

Microsoft is actively updating its apps to bring support for newest Apple devices. Prior to Edge, the company has released Office apps for M1 Macs.
