At Ignite 2022, Microsoft unveiled a major update to the Office app for Windows, Android, and iOS that brings an updated user interface and several new features. The application now has a new name, Microsoft 365, to stay in line with the eponymous service. Of course, it also features a new logo.
Previous revisions of the Office app allowed you to create new documents, view a list of recently opened documents, and access local and cloud files and content.
The renamed one includes the following updates and improvements.
- A new feed: A new way to keep up with work by showcasing shared files from the people users work with and trending content in a bite-sized card format.
- Apps module: A redesigned interface to access any Microsoft 365 app and related third-party apps. The apps module is now available on mobile for the first time.
- Tagging: A new, intuitive way for users to organize their work independent of where files are stored.
Users are expected to start getting the new Microsoft 365 App this November. Since it is a modern web app, it will give the same experience across platforms, even in the browser.
