Microsoft announces Surface Pro X with new Platinum finish and SQ2 processor

Surface Pro X SQ2 Icon

Microsoft today announced the improved Surface Pro X device that comes with better performance and features a new Platinum finish. While most of its specs remain the same, there is a new CPU, and three more colors for its keyboard: Ice Blue, Poppy Red, and Platinum.

Consumers now have a choice to get devices with one of Microsoft SQ processors, which are based on Snapdragon SoCs. The newest one, SQ2, is a modded Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G, the SQ1 one is based on Snapdragon 8cx. Both CPUs are overclocked against its parent chips.

Despite the name, the SQ2 device lacks support for 5G, as Microsoft ships devices with the 4G connectivity only.

You can now pre-order the SQ2-based Surface Pro X on Microsoft Store. Microsoft will start selling its configurations starting on October 13. The price starts at $1499.99.
