March firmware update is now available for Surface Pro 5 and 7 Plus

Microsoft continues rolling out March firmware updates for its Surface computers. This time, a bunch of new drivers and improvements receive Surface Pro 5th gen (2017 model) and the latest addition to the family, Surface Pro 7 Plus.

Surface Pro 5th gen, released in 2017, receives a new Intel graphics driver for its iGPU Iris Plus Graphics 640. The rest of the update contains minor stability improvements and security updates. Here is a detailed changelog:

The March firmware updates are available for all Surface Pro 5th gen models with Windows 10 1903 and newer. To check your Windows version, go to Settings – System – About – Windows Specifications.

As for the newly released Surface Pro 7 Plus, the update contains more substantial changes. Besides traditional security patches and bugfixes, the March firmware update improves audio performance, touch response, Bluetooth stability, battery performance, and USB port identifications. All the updates for Surface Pro 7 Plus are available for all configurations with Windows 10 20H2. This version comes with Surface Pro 7 Plus out-of-the-box, so users do not need to update their computers to get the latest firmware updates.

Do note that these updates do not apply to regular Surface Pro 7. The Plus model has different hardware, hence different firmware updates.
