Intel has revealed some details on its Wi-Fi 7 drivers. They will support the newest hardware on laptops and desktops. However, only devices running the latest operating systems like Windows 11 will be provided with Wi-Fi 7 drivers.
This gives Windows 11 another noticeable advantage over Windows 10. Consequently, a significant portion of Windows 10 users will miss out on the latest wireless capabilities.
Intel will offer the Wi-Fi 7 standard support through the Gale Peak 2 "BE200," which includes the Killer 1750X controller and Bluetooth 5.4. The documentation reveals that Wi-Fi 7 GaP2 will provide TCP TPT speeds up to 5Gbps (320M/MSC13), while MtP2 will offer speeds up to 3Gbps (160M/MSC13).
Wi-Fi 7 technology will be a key advantage of the upcoming Core Ultra platform. The first-generation Core Ultra processors, known as Meteor Lake, are set to be released in the autumn.
Intel plans to collaborate with Microsoft to actively promote Windows 11 on their latest platforms. However, users may still have issues with switching to Windows 11 due to its draconian hardware requirements.
