You can make Windows 11 to show the taskbar on all displays connected to your computer. This is useful when you are working with more than one display. Otherwise, it will appear only on the main display.
Microsoft has reworked the taskbar in Windows 11 with a new design and features. It is now aligned to the center, and hosts the Start button, the Search icon, Task View, widgets, File Explorer, the Edge browser, and the Microsoft Store icons.
With multiple displays connected, Windows 11 may display the taskbar on the main display, or each display may have its own taskbar instance. The main taskbar is the instance that shows the clock, tray icons, and appears on the main display. The taskbars on the other displays won't have the clock and tray icons.
This post will show you how to show the Windows 11 taskbar on all displays for your user account.
Show Taskbar on All Displays in Windows 11
- Open the Settings app using the Win + I keyboard shortcut or the icon in Start.
- Navigate to Personalization > Taskbar.
- Click on Taskbar behaviors.
- Turn on Show my taskbar on all displays.
Done! You can uncheck this option at any moment later if you change your mind and don't want to have the taskbar visible on all connected displays.
You can also change the taskbar visibility for multiple displays in the Registry. This can be useful if the Settings app doesn't work for you properly.
Enable or disable taskbar for multiple displays in the Registry
The appropriate settings is stored under the following key:
There is a 32-bit DWORD value named
MMTaskbarEnabled. Set it to 1 to enable make the taskbar appear on all your displays. A value data of 0 will disable keep the taskbar on the primary display only.
Finally, after you finish editing the Registry, restart the Explorer. Save all your work, then open the Task Manager. Find and select the File Explorer app on the Processes tab, and click on Restart.
Ready-to-use batch file
It is hard to call the Registry method convenient, but luckily you can automate it with a batch file. It will modify the
MMTaskbarEnabled value and then restart the explorer.exe process.
In the ZIP archive you have downloaded, you will find two files.
Show_taskbar_on_all_displays.cmd- shows the taskbar on each displays.
Hide_taskbar_on_all_displays.cmd- leaves the taskbar visible on the primary display only.
