Google will close Album Archive access on July 19

Google has started notifying users about the impending closure of the Album Archive. Starting from July 19, 2023, the Google Album Archive will be inaccessible. All content stored within it will no longer be available.

The Google Album Archive is a web gallery that accumulates media content from different sources. It allows users to view and manage their photo and video content from various Google products and services. Past Google projects, Hangouts and Picasa Web Albums, are among them.

Google Album Archive Is Closing

In order to keep your important photos, you must export them to the  Google Takeout service. The company provides detailed instructions on this page.

It is also possible to download individual albums. To download a specific album, open  Google Album Archive, click "More," and then choose "Download Album."

The termination of Album Archive will not impact Google Photos, Google Photos archives, Blogger images, or any content in Google Hangouts that has already been transferred to Google Chat. Google discontinued the Hangouts messaging service in November 2022, with users being directed to transition to Google Chat.
