Firefox 70 New Icon Big 256

Mozilla has released its first minor update to the Firefox 89 branch. Version 89.0.1 is now available with a resolved security issue and a number of other fixed issues.

If you are an existing Firefox user, it will install the update automatically. If you still haven't received the update, try to click on the app menu > Help > About Firefox in order to perform the update check and install the available updates.

Here's what's new in Firefox 89.0.1

  • Windows: Resolved an issue causing some screen readers to not interact correctly with Firefox anymore
  • Updated translations, including full Spanish (Mexico) localization and other improvements
  • Fix various font related regressions
  • Linux: Fix performance and stability regressions with WebRender
  • macOS: Fix screen flickering when scrolling a page on an external monitor
  • Enterprise: Fix for the DisableDeveloperTools policy not having effect anymore
  • Linux: Fix broken scrollbars on some GTK themes

Finally, there is a security fix. A moderate security vulnerability, CVE-2021-29968, has been resolved.

When drawing text onto a canvas with WebRender disabled, an out of bounds read could occur.
This bug only affects Firefox on Windows. Other operating systems are unaffected.

You can learn more and download Firefox 89.0.1 from the release notes page on the official Mozilla website.
