Windows 10 build 14986 comes with a new OneDrive flyout notification which looks stylish and fits the modern appearance of the operating system. By default, it is not enabled for some users. If you are running the recently released Windows 10 build 14986, you can activate it with a simple Registry tweak.
The new OneDrive flyout is not available prior to build 14986. Similar to the new Share pane, this is also a secret hidden feature which needs to be enabled as of this build. Here is how it looks:
Enable the New OneDrive Flyout in Windows 10
To activate it, you need to apply the following Registry tweak:
- Open Registry Editor.
- Go to the following Registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\OneDrive
Tip: How to jump to the desired registry key with one click.
- In the right pane, create a new 32-bit DWORD value named TeamSiteSyncPreview.
Set its value data to 1.
Note: Even if you are running 64-bit Windows you must still create a 32-bit DWORD value.
That's it. No restart of the app required, just click the OneDrive tray icon.

Thanks to InsideWindows for their findings.
More and more classic Windows components are moving to the new Universal Windows Platform and its design language. It is no surprise that Microsoft is reworking almost all the old parts of the operating system again and building a touch-friendly UI for Windows features and apps. It remains to be seen how well received these changes are.
What do you think about this change? Do you like the new OneDrive flyout?
