The "Buy now, pay later" feature (BNPL) splits purchases into equal interest-free installments with a small service fee. Instead of relying on store-specific options, Edge users can use BNPL on the browser level with any purchase between $35 and $1000.

You can break payments into four installments over six weeks, and the browser will offer BNPL during the checkout process when you select a credit card and in the coupon flyout.

BNPL is now available to Edge Canary and Dev users. Microsoft plans to ship that feature for all in Edge 96, which is on track to arrive in the stable channel later this week.

The idea behind "buy now, pay later" might sound convenient for some, but many Edge users look not-so-happy about the change and the fact that they cannot disable the integration with Zip.

Others think it is not ethical for Microsoft to instigate impulsive and irresponsible shopping. Microsoft Edge developers say they are open for user feedback, so share your thoughts using the "Send feedback" option by pressing the Shift + Alt + I keys in the browser. You can read more about the controversial partnership in a post on the Tech Community forum.

In case you missed it, Microsoft recently announced a partnership with Shopify to improve the shopping experience during the holiday season for shoppers and sellers in various Microsoft products.
