Change text width in Immersive Reader in Edge

To change text width in Immersive Reader in Microsoft Edge, do the following.

  1. Update the browser to version 94.0.081.0 or higher.
  2. Next, launch Immersive Reader using the F9 button.
  3. Click the "Text Preferences" button.
  4. Finally, select the preferred text width using three buttons in the "Text Column Style" section.

Customizable text width for Immersive Reader is currently available only for Edge 94 users in the Canary Channel. According to the official documentation from Microsoft, that version of the browser is due to release in September 2021. You can learn more about the differences between Microsoft Edge Canary, Dev, Beta, and Stable in our dedicated article. In case you missed it, Edge Canary recently received a new section with accessibility settings.

Edge 94 will be the first version to switch from a six-week release schedule to a four-week cadence. Microsoft understands that not everyone is happy with the upcoming change, so it allows switching to a new Extended Stable Channel. Unlike regular Edge Stable, Extended Stable Channel will be getting major feature updates every eight weeks. Microsoft has already published documentation with all the details about moving the Edge browser to the Extended Stable Channel.
