Windows 11 Build 22000.706 adds Windows Spotlight to Desktop in Release Preview

Microsoft today released Windows 11 Build 22000.706 to Inisders in the Release Preview channel. The update comes in form of a patch KB5014019. It adds Windows spotlight to the desktop background options, so users can have a fresh wallpaper daily. It also comes with a huge list of various fixes and improvements.

Windows 11 build 25120 adds a Search box widget to the Desktop

Microsoft has updated the Dev channel with a new build. While it fixes the unavailability of its predecessor to ARM64, it also adds a new feature. Microsoft is experimenting with adding widgets right to the Desktop area. The first move in this direction is an interactive desktop search box.

Microsoft released separate builds for Dev and Beta channels

Today, Microsoft closed the channel switch window for Dev and Beta Insider channels. It is not possible to change the channel after installing today's releases. Insiders on the Beta channel receive build 22621 from the 22H2 branch. The Dev channel goes forward with what will eventually become 23H2, starting with today's build 25115.
