Windows 11 now has activation issues after banning Windows 7/8 keys

Microsoft is currently investigating a problem reported by Windows 10/11 users who activated their operating systems using valid keys from Windows 7/8. Some of them experienced deactivation after replacing new PC components or updating the BIOS. In some cases, Microsoft's technical support has suggested purchasing a new OS license.

The monthly cumulative updates have been released by Microsoft for all currently supported Windows 11/10 systems. These updates primarily focus on fixing any identified errors and addressing vulnerabilities rather than introducing new features. Users can already get them from the Windows Update.

Windows 11 allows moving Copilot to the system tray

Microsoft is testing a new feature for the Copilot. It can now be moved to the system tray. In this case, the taskbar button will disappear, and the Copilot icon will become the first button at the right screen edge. Clicking it will open the same sidebar, i.e. visually there will be no other changes.

Windows 11 now supports 7Z and TAR archive creation

The latest Canary release, Windows 11 build 25992, adds native support for 7z and Tar archive creation. Just like you've been creating ZIP archives for decades, you can now use these formats without having to install any external applications. Right-click a file or folder, select Compress to..., and pick the desired compression option.

Windows 11 Build 25992 (Canary) improves Snipping Tool and SMB

Windows 11 Build 25992, which is now available to Insiders in the Canary channel, introduces a number of Server Message Block (SMB) protocol changes, and several fixes to Explorer and other components. Also it includes an updated Snipping Tool app that works better with HDR.
