Firefox has taken the path of using artificial intelligence features. With the upcoming release of Firefox 130 on September 3, the browser will introduce a feature that automatically creates text descriptions for images, known as the ALT tag. Nightly builds of Firefox already include this feature in the inbox PDF viewer. Initially, the option will generate descriptions only for newly added images, but the plan is to eventually extend this functionality to any image visible in the browser.

Nightly builds of Firefox, which represent Firefox 128, now include a weather widget. It appears every time you open a new tab page, and has a few options.

Without fanfare, Mozilla closed a bug in Firefox discovered 23 years ago. This was due to the fact that passwords in GET requests were stored in the browsing history and could subsequently be stolen without much effort.

Firefox 126 is now available to users of the stable version of the browser. It finally brings the ability to copy links without site tracking parameters to the stable branch. Also, it improves performance, supports zstd compression, and adds hardware acceleration for AV1 on Macs with M3.

A new feature is coming to Firefox 127, that will protect users from a specific tracking method. Some websites use a chain of links with redirect one to another to build a map of user clicks. They also can set cookies and use other extra additions to generate the full view of your online activity. Firefox will fight them.

On April 16, 2024, the stable version of Firefox 125 was released with support for the AV1 codec with Encrypted Media Extensions (EME), the ability to highlight text in PDF files, and more conveniently paste URLs into the address bar from the clipboard. Mozilla has published browser builds for Windows, Linux and macOS.

Firefox Nightly now comes with several new features. First of all, it allows translating a selected text block without translating the web page entirely. It also brings native support for isolated sessions (container tabs) and  vertical tab layout.

Mozilla Firefox 124 is now available in the stable branch, featuring several improvements to various browser features. You can now sort the contents of the Firefox View page, and it no longer exposes your bookmarks by default. The inbox PDF viewer allows selecting the text using keyboard only. And much more. There is also an update to its ESR counterpart to version 115.9.0, along with Firefox  125 in the Beta channel (will be released on April 16).

The Firefox 123 web browser is now available. Along with it, Mozilla releases version 115.8.0, a long-term support branch update. Firefox 124 now enters the beta testing stage, the release of which is scheduled for March 19.

You can now enable tab previews in Firefox, so when you hover over a tab, its preview thumbnail will appear as a tip card. The feature is already available in the Firefox browser's nightly builds.
