In addition to the user profile removal and broken notification issues, Windows 10 version 1809 leaves certain users without sounds. Due to a driver issue, the operating system can't play audio. Thankfully, it is easy to fix this issue.

Users running into the issue report that Windows 10 is not able to detect their audio output device. The system tray icon tooltip shows 'No Audio Output Device Is Installed'. All affected users have Intel High Definition Audio as their audio device.
Here is a couple of fixes you can try to apply.
Fix No Audio Issue in Windows 10 version 1809
Option 1. Reinstall the driver
- Press Win + X keys together on the keyboard and click Device Manager.
- Expand the System Devices section.
- Find the device named Intel Smart Sound Technology driver (SST).
- Right-click on the device and select Update driver from the context menu.
- Choose the option "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer".
- Select High Definition Audio from the list.
- Click on the Next button.
The issue should be resolved.
Option 2. Remove the incorrect version of the Intel driver
- Open a new command prompt instance as Administrator.
- Type the following command:
pnputil /enum-drivers
. - In the output, find the Published Name line that matches the following device:
Published Name: oem<some number here>.inf
Original Name: intcaudiobus.inf
Provider Name: Intel(R) Corporation
Class Name: System
Class GUID: {4d36e97d-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
Driver Version: 08/22/2018 09.21.00.3755
Signer Name: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher - Execute the command
pnputil /delete-driver oem<some number here>.inf /uninstall
. Replace the oem<some number here>.inf portion with the value you found at the step 3.
The audio issue has affected only certain systems and users. It is a good idea to always install the most recent version of the audio driver available from its vendor. Neither Microsoft or Intel provide any official solution or recommendation for this issue.

Thanks! It’s worked!
the problem is that manufacturers sell PCs with some parts with drivers that are outdated since a long time and no one seems to care about that ! some drivers i have for my sound card are from 2015 and are unrecognized by windows 10 1809 and on the site of the drivers they’re still not update ! they not follow the evolution of the OS and no one is answering at all the complaining people that are in difficulties ! my PC is 1 year old and i’m already in difficulties with some drivers that will never be update and leave me with my 1 year old pc without sound ! awful ! for info, i have IDT drivers with HP Beats and DTS sound panel (that doesn’t load anymore at start)….that was the only issue with 1809 upgrade of windows….
