The Lock screen was first introduced in Windows 8. It is a security feature which shows a fancy image when your PC is locked. By default, Lock screen shows notifications from installed apps. You may want to disable them for your own privacy and safety.

To disable app notifications on Lock Screen in Windows 10, do the following.
- Open Settings.
- Go to System - Notifications & actions.
- On the right, go to Notifications.
- Disable the option Show notifications on the lock screen.
The same option can be turned off with a Registry key. Here is how it can be done.
Open the Registry Editor app and go to the following key:
Tip: You can reach the desired Registry key with one click.
On the right, create a new 32-bit DWORD value named NOC_GLOBAL_SETTING_ALLOW_TOASTS_ABOVE_LOCK. Leave its value data as 0 to disable this feature.
