In 2026, Xbox 360 owners who still use this classic console, discovered that they cannot manually set the date and time later than December 31, 2025, in the Xbox 360 console's interface settings. As you may know, the device turned 20 years old on November 22, 2025.

It turns out this is an interface limitation. The developer of this component at Microsoft could set the limit dates up to 2025 for the year input box. Technically, there could be no such limitation: Like the original Xbox, the Xbox 360 counts time as a 40-bit integer of milliseconds, starting with the Xbox Epoch, which falls on November 15, 2001, at midnight. This would allow the console to use 35 years for dates from start, not 25 years from start as it does now.
As a result, owners of the device have two options for fixing the current date issue. Otherwise, they may experience confusion in save file dates, as well as possible chronological errors in system logs.
The first method is to set the correct date from January 1, 2026 - this is automatic synchronization of the console via Xbox Live when the device is connected to the Internet.
The second method is to use a third-party application called TimeFixer, which can set dates on Xbox 360 up to September 17, 2036, at 19:53:47 UTC. However, the latter is a mod.
Microsoft has long since disabled the ability to purchase new games on Xbox 360. You can only download previously purchased games. Perhaps that the company didn't expect the console to be in use to the current date.
