Windows 11’s Paint adds dark theme and better zoom for Insiders

The updated Paint app for Windows 11 is being rolled out to Windows Insiders. The new version includes improvements to dark mode and zoom controls, as well as enhanced accessibility features and keyboard shortcuts.

Microsoft has made available an updated version 11.2304.17.0 of the Paint app to Windows 11 Insiders in the Dev and Canary channels, bringing with it several long-awaited changes and improvements.

Finally, Paint supports the dark theme. By default, the app uses system settings, but you can change this option yourself on the Settings page.

Paint New Zoom UI

The zoom controls have been enhanced for better management of content display on the canvas. With the new zoom slider, you can now adjust the zoom levels in smaller increments, and even set a custom value for maximum precision. The old presets remain available.

Moreover, a new feature has been added to optimize the scale based on the window size, allowing for quicker adjustments.

The Image Properties dialog box has been revamped to align with the design of Windows 11, resulting in a more user-friendly interface.

Accessibility features are better supported than before, ensuring an inclusive experience for users.

Furthermore, keyboard shortcuts are now more streamlined, with hints added in different parts of the interface for easier navigation.
