Windows 11 version 24H2 RTM build may be signed in the next couple of weeks

An RTM build of the Germanium platform that represents Windows 11 version 24H2 may be signed in the next couple of weeks. Following this event, OEMs such as Samsung, Lenovo or HP usually start testing the new Windows 11 release on their hardware.

However, Microsoft will not immediately stop the development. The signing process indicates that the major work is done for the Germanium platform. The OS itself will continue some of the new features, and Microsoft will continue polishing the existing ones. Simply put, the RTM build of Germanium will not have most of the new features that will be included in the Hudson Valley update.

OEMs will also start producing devices powered by Snapdragon X Elite processor as early as June 2024. But those will come with a pre-installed version of Windows on the Germanium platform without many new features.

Companies can't release devices running the older version of Windows 11 because it lacks the necessary platform or kernel changes. In the fall, these devices will receive a relatively small cumulative update that will bring all the drastic changes and feature updates prepared for Windows 11 version 24H2.
