Windows 11 reached 16.1% market share

After skipping December 2021, AdDuplex is back with another monthly report, revealing the latest data about Windows market share. January 2022 statistics show Windows 11 steadily growing in numbers, effectively doubling its power since the last time we met.

In November 2021, Windows 11 had 8.6% of all Windows computers. Now the latest operating system from Microsoft boasts 16.1%. It overtook the recently released Windows 10 21H2 with its growing figure of 12.1% (3.7% in November 2021).

Windows 10 21H1 and 20H2, the two most popular Windows versions, steadily lose their userbase. Windows 10 21H1 went from 36.3% to 28.6%, and Windows 10 20H2 climbed down from 31.8% to 26.3%. Expect the latter to continue declining due to the upcoming end of support on May 10, 2022. In fact, Microsoft is now updating systems with Windows 10 20H2 to the latest Windows 10, hence the decline.

Other Windows versions remain relatively unchanged. Now unsupported Windows 10 2004 keeps 9.7% of the market (down 1.3 points), and Windows 10 1909 has 2.9% (down 0.7 points). Windows 10 1809 and older versions together hold 2.7%. Finally, the amount of Windows Insiders testing preview versions of Windows 11 went up from 0.3% to 0.4%.

You can find the latest report from AdDuplex on its official website.

Users and developers can now expect Windows 11 to increase its growth as Microsoft recently announced entering the final stage of rolling out its latest operating system. Windows 11 is now available via Windows Update on all compatible devices. Also, the first feature update for Windows 11 is about to land soon, bringing a host of changes. Microsoft is preparing to ship the first public preview of Android apps support on Windows 11 alongside various improvements, such as a new volume flyout, a better taskbar, etc.

  1. Since everybody in the “Whole World”, have taken to openly lying about everything. Politicians, Media, etc. – What is the chance of this information being true ???

  2. This is total B.S. I read somewhere else that they are measuring Microsoft Store market share. It’s misleading to call that OS market share.

  3. I would bet this statistic includes Windows 11 beta releases too. Except for getting Windows 11 on a new system,I wouldn’t be in a hurry to upgrade. I have yet to see any benchmarks that really improve that much with Windows 11 over 10. Now, maybe that will change over time, but I think most know Windows 11 still have a lot of Windows 10 under the hood.
