Windows 11 22H2 Build 22621.1485 is out in Preview, adds Start menu badges, and more

Microsoft has released a new optional update to users running the stable  Windows 11, version 22H2. The release fits the new schedule, which includes preview patches to be released on every forth week of the month. Build 22621.1485 comes with KB5023778 that you have to install manually in Settings > Windows Update > Optional updates.

You can also download it manually from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

The latest preview update for Windows 11 22H2 brings some new features such as notification badges for Microsoft accounts in the Start menu. The badges are currently available to a limited number of users, and will be rolled out more broadly in the coming months.

03 Start Menu Badges

Some devices may have different visual treatments during this period as Microsoft gathers feedback.

Another feature is that the search box on the taskbar will have a lighter look when Windows is set to a custom color mode, specifically when the Windows mode is set to dark and the app mode is set to light in Settings > Personalization > Colors.Taskbar search with a custom Theme

The update also fixes some issues such as the Notepad combo box in Settings failing to show all available options.

Additionally, it addresses problems with Microsoft PowerPoint not responding when accessibility tools are used, and Microsoft Narrator failing to read items in dropdown lists in Microsoft Excel.

Furthermore, the update fixes an issue where USB printers are incorrectly classified as multimedia devices by the system.
