I am releasing Winaero Tweaker 1.63. It includes several new features and some fixes. Here we go.
- The app should now properly detect the Windows version, including Windows 11 24H2.
- The installer allows you to skip the addition of the Start menu folder.
- Added the option to permanently enable the Ribbon UI in File Explorer on Windows 11.
- An option to disable ads in the Start menu, in the "Recommended" section. The option is in Behavior > Ads and Unwanted apps.
- Individual Edge tweaking options are now live on a new page, and they are greatly expanded. Check out Microsoft Edge > Disable Annoyances and Bloat. There, you will find settings to disable sidebar, tips and promotions on desktop, prompts to set Edge as your default browser, floating Bing bar on desktop, remove news and "quick links" from the New tab page, and much, much more.
- You can now remove the "Edit with Clipchamp" context menu entry.
- The Tools \ System Restore page now has an option to quickly restart the device to Windows Recovery Environment.
- I have fixed a few tweaks that stopped working in 24H2, such as add/remove This PC folders.
- I have removed the "Folder options" page as Microsoft is no longer going to remove those.
- Removed the "test" message from the Hide Settings pages option (I use MessageBox debugging, yeah-yeah).
- There are a few small bugfixes.

Nice update! Thank you.
You are welcome.
Winaero Tweaker has evolved into a most sophisticated tool. I am very impressed.
Well, these changes could become standalone apps.
But having a Swiss knife is a convenient thing.
Thank you very much Sergey.
You are welcome.
Any chance you can upgrade and integrate the One Click Firewall as this has become a toolbox of sorts?
Use the shit out of it but have to use context menu edits to move it to its own section and AWAY from run as administrator since I accidentally click on them on occasion :D
Hi. I think it’s broken. Receiving all kinds of errors, including messages about internet connection (unfinished transfer), office 365 (outlook), and eset (virusscanner). Maybe you can check?
Hello. idk, it works fine here, and you are the first one who reports such an issue.
Also, the app has nothing to do with Outlook or internet transfers.
Thanks for the new Edge stuff. The built-in flag for disabling recommendations is now gone and they are (were :)) really annoying.
After installing the portable I get Trojan Horse:win32/wacatac.b!ml sever —-
I Have a screen shot
This happens all the time to my app. With various triggers. Once it was like this.
Clicking into Hide Pages from Settings, results in the Tweaker shutting down. It was working when I installed it, then it only worked after the second attempt for about a month or so; now, it can’t get to the Hide Pages from Settings page at all.
Maybe it’s my broken junk heap or maybe there’s an update needed for that page.
I just fixed the Hide Settings page temporarily. Here’s how:
1. Exported Tweaks file.
2. Reset All Tweaks.
3. STRANGE: The Settings Were still Missing.
4. The Hide Setting Page Opened as It Should.
5. Re-enabled The Settings Page I Needed (Time & Date). STRANGE: Despite the current state of the program supposedly having reset all tweaks; the Hide Settings checks were still as I had set them, so; Reset All Tweaks did not reset Hide Settings Pages.
6. Imported My Exported Tweaks File.
7. Tested the Hide Settings page again and found it was broken again.
Guess: Some combination of tweaks is breaking the Hide Setting Page and is shutting down Winaero Tweaker when accessing that page. Not sure why.
Cheers, love your work (:.
Forgot to mention: The import tweaks file, had all tweaks already selected when I exported it. So why can’t I find that one Hide Settings Pages tweak in the list? What am I missing, or is Hide Setting Pages not included in the Import/Export files?
Thanks so much for the app. I use it on any windows install I do at home. I saw this question on another release and did not see a reply. Are there any plans or thoughts to add any command line arguments for running the app? Primarily to import one of the ini files? So that I can quickly have it run after an install?
Command line arguments would be a fine addition, I agree.
BUG: If user doesn’t have “Run as administrator” context menu item, Winaero Tweaker will not launch at all.
Could you please fix this? I’m an administrator, so I always remove “Run as administrator”. Thank you.
What an interesting bug report. Thank you, I will try to fix it!
Is there any proper, centralized location to post suggestions? Sorry if there is and I missed it.
I have a feature request: add a tweak that changes Windows’ information size display from using decimal prefixes (KB, MB, GB, etc.) to the proper binary ones (KiB, MiB, GiB, etc.) to match with the actual units it counts in. Also, a dark theme would be nice!
Also, small question—is it ok to install Winaero Tweaker in the Program Files directory? I know some software runs into issues if installed there.
Please make the Russian language!
Indeed, this is the best and most comprehensive multi-tool for Windows. THANKS!
Please fix backward compatibility for all Windows versions (included Win7): Some tools does not work for Win7 like for example some “Context menus” because its registry value starts with “powershell …”. If you fix it by change it with executable’s (.exe) full address (eg.) “C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe …”, will be solved.
eg. Context menu “View Owner” command reg value: C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -NoExit Get-ACL ‘%1’| Format-List -Property Owner
