Task Manager on Windows 11 22H2 has accent color issues after installing KB5020044

Yesterday, Microsoft released an optional update KB5020044 (Build 22621.900) for Windows 11 version 22H2. The patch fixes performance issues in games, adds a dedicated Windows Spotlight theme along with OneDrive cloud storage status alerts in Settings. Sadly, the update brought with it a few new bugs.

Windows 11 Task Manager App

In Windows 11 version 22H2 (build 22621.900), Task Manager is known to use incorrect colors for certain UI elements, causing them to become unreadable. The issue only affects users who applied a custom color scheme in Personalization.

As a workaround, Microsoft suggests switching to the default light or dark theme by going to Settings -> Personalization -> Colors -> and selecting the default settings here . The company is already working on fixing the problem. There is a good chance that the bug will be fixed before the release of the monthly cumulative updates scheduled for December 13th.

It is important to note that the issue only affects client versions of Windows 11 version 22H2. The Windows Server operating system does not have this issue.
