Skype Preview 8.35.76.65: Turn Off Incoming Video

Microsoft today announced yet another update to the Skype Insider Preview app. Skype 8.35.76.30, includes the long awaited option that allows turning off the incoming video stream.

The feature is available on Android, iPhone, iPad and desktop for Windows, Linux and Mac.

The new Skype Preview app has a very streamlined user interface. It follows the modern trend of flat minimalist design with glyph icons and no borders anywhere. This design is being used in all other Microsoft products.

Microsoft is releasing the following apps:

  • 8.35.76.65 is available for Android, iPhone, iPad, Web, desktop apps for Mac, Linux & Windows
  • 8.35.76.65 (store version 14.35.65.0) for Windows
  • Skype Lite Preview 1.73.76.2 for Android 4+

The key feature of this release is the ability to turn off incoming video.

Poor network connection? In the car and not looking at your phone? Want to save data while on the go? Now you can by disabling incoming video in our latest Skype Insider build! You can find the option under the + button when you are in a call.

For mobile devices, there is an updated main menu which doesn't include some redundant and unused items in order to make room for the new features like disabling incoming video.

Also, there is a feature in this release that will allow you to set the default  file save location. You can test it in action on Linux, Mac & Windows desktop apps. It can be found under "Messaging" in settings.
