Microsoft today announced Windows Server Insider Preview build 20285. While this specific release doesn't include new features, it finally reveals the marketing name of the upcoming Windows Server version.
The next stable Windows Server version will be Windows Server 2022. This new build comes with such branding everywhere, starting with its installer and ending with its Winver dialog. Check out these screenshots:
Also, this build finally includes the new Chromium-based Edge.
Windows Server Build 20285 comes with a couple of known issues you should be aware of before you try it. These are
- Shutdown Event Tracker is displayed every time a user logs on even when the user is a member of the administrators group and the user has closed the tracker window properly.
- Auto Logon does not work correctly in some scenarios.

That isn’t true.. most of the Windows Server insider preview builds simply don’t have their (full) changelogs included. To confirm. check all Server insider builds: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/51043 and reach each from past year, to see many releases arrived without changes listed. They just change stuff without announcing, it would be pointless to make so many ‘changeless’ releases otherwise, they would obviously never do that. That’s not how Microsoft works, making useless releases.. they work at pace.
hi. a blind network student, and wish microsoft would allow narrator windows built in screen reader to turn on audio automatically without sighted help. or having to do script for unnatend installs. so is the new windows server 2022 going to be cloud based. if so, what accessibility features will make it for blind network and sys admin and students to use this new tool. any ideas. thanks.
Marvin that is a really good queston and makes total sense. I went digging around and found Microsofts Accessibility support for Enterprise Customers email. I think if anyone at Microsoft would have anwers to this it would be them.
