But rumors say that pricing places the base ROG Xbox Ally at €599 (approximately $699), with the ROG Xbox Ally X estimated at €899 (around $1,049). Alternative reports from Dealabs suggest U.S. prices of $549.99 and $899.99, respectively. Microsoft and ASUS have confirmed that pricing and pre-order details will be announced in the coming weeks, a delay potentially linked to recent product leaks and ongoing changes in U.S. trade regulations.
On launch day, both models will be available in Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, the UAE, the UK, the US, and Vietnam.
Only the ROG Xbox Ally X will be available in China at launch. Future rollouts are planned for Brazil, India, Indonesia, and Thailand.
Handheld Game Compatibility Program
Microsoft has introduced a handheld game compatibility program to improve user experience. Games will carry one of two labels: “Handheld Optimized” indicates full support for standard controls, correct icon display, and proper full-screen resolution. “Mostly Compatible” titles may require minor in-game adjustments for optimal performance. A Windows Performance Fit indicator will provide users with compatibility status and expected performance levels.
Both devices will run Windows 11 Home and feature a full-screen Xbox interface optimized for handheld use. This interface will launch by default, hiding the Windows desktop. Users can access the desktop through the Xbox Game Bar menu.
Upcoming Device Enhancements
Microsoft is developing several performance and usability features. Advanced Shader Delivery will pre-load shaders during game downloads, reducing startup delays and in-game stutter. Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR), powered by the device’s Neural Processing Unit (NPU), will launch on the ROG Xbox Ally X in early 2026. The NPU will also support AI-driven gameplay recording, automatically detecting and saving highlight moments for social media sharing.
The ROG Xbox Ally is equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB of LPDDR5X-6400 RAM, a 512GB replaceable M.2 SSD, and a 60 Wh battery. The ROG Xbox Ally X features an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme CPU, 24GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, a 1TB replaceable M.2 SSD, and an 80 Wh battery.
Both models include a 7-inch FHD IPS display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, FreeSync Premium, and Gorilla Glass Victus with anti-glare coating. Graphics are powered by AMD Radeon RDNA 3 architecture, with the Ally X including AI Boost capabilities. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E (2×2) and Bluetooth 5.4. Audio features consist of dual smart-amplified speakers, Dolby Atmos support, and an AI noise-canceling microphone.
The base model includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports and a microSD card reader. The Ally X adds a USB4 (Thunderbolt 4) port and a DDR200 microSD card reader. Both units measure 290.8 × 121.5 × 50.7 mm; the Ally weighs 670 grams, and the Ally X weighs 715 grams.
