PowerToys is getting a new mouse click highlighter tool

One of the recent updates for PowerToys brought a new Find My Mouse utility that helps users find the missing cursor on large or high-resolution monitors. Microsoft now plans to add more mouse-related features to PowerToys. The project's repository on GitHub reveals an upcoming Mouse Highlighter tool.

Mouse Highlighter in PowerToys will let you mark left and right mouse clicks during screen sharing or presentations. The tool received a dedicated keyboard shortcut (Win + Shift + H) with an option to assign a new key sequence.

Besides, Mouse Highlighter will offer users several customization options, such as highlight color, opacity, radius, fade duration, and fade delay. All those options will sit in the "Mouse Utilities" section in the PowerToys settings, where you currently can toggle on or off the Find My Mouse tool.

Microsoft has two public PowerToys channels: stable and experimental. New features, bug fixes, and improvements arrive first in the experimental version, where users can test updates before Microsoft ship them to the public. Expect the Mouse Highlighter toy to land first in the experimental channel. It is worth mentioning that the app itself remains a public preview, even in the stable channel.

PowerToys is available for Windows 10 and Windows 11. You can download the app from its GitHub repository, via winget, or the Microsoft Store (with the new Microsoft Store being available on Windows 10, you can download PowerToys from the store on Windows 11 and now 10).

The latest version offers a quite impressive toolset with the following features: a utility to keep your PC alive, color picker, windows layouts editor, various File Explorer add-ons, image resizer, keyboard remapper, cursor finder, bulk file renamer, app launcher, shortcut guide, and a mic/camera mute utility.
