Windows 11 Build 22635.5097 (Beta) improves scaling in File Explorer, and fixes various bugs

Microsoft is releasing Windows 11 Build 22635.5097 (KB5053648) to Insiders in the Beta Channel. This build will only apply to version 23H2, and is available Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who did not upgrade to receiving updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2.

Windows 11 Start pane is getting more options in the right-click menu

In the recently released Builds 26120.3576 (Dev & Beta) and 22635.5090 (Beta) , Microsoft has silently added new options to re-arrange the pinned icons in the Start menu. There are new commands in the context-menu of the Start pane to move items to the left, right or top, create folders, and move an icon to an existing folder.

Windows 11 Build 27818 (Canary) removes Suggested actions

Windows 11 Build 27818 is now available to Insiders in the Canary Channel. Changes include additional details for Pluton TPM chips in Windows Security app under Device Security, removed Suggested actions for copied phone numbers or dates, faster extraction of archived files in Explorer, and several fixes.

Windows 11 Build 26100.3613 (RP) improves Live Captions and Settings

Microsoft has released a new preview of Windows 11 to Insiders in the Release Preview channel. Build 26100.3613 (KB5053656) applies to version 24H2, and comes with a number of improvements. Specially, Copilot+ devices are getting much improved Live Captions, and the Settings app is featuring hardware cards. Besides, there are a number of fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

Windows 11 Build  22635.5090 (KB5053649) is now available to Insider program participants in the Beta channel. It applies to version 23H2 and comes with several fixes. Also, it adds support for Simplified Chinese (zh-cn) and Traditional Chinese (zn-tw).

Windows 11 moves all the Mouse options from Control Panel to Settings

Microsoft continues moving the classic Control Panel options to the modern Settings app. Mouse options are now fully available in the Settings app for some Insiders. In the near future, the options they leave their classic place, making the Control Panel more and more useless. Microsoft is actively working on making the latter ready for the removal.

Updated Snipping Tool and Notepad are now available to Windows 11 Insiders

Microsoft is rolling out updated versions of the Snipping Tool and Notepad apps to Windows 11 Insiders running Dev and Canary builds. The Snipping Tool update introduces the Draw & Hold feature in the Snipping Tool, allowing users to convert freehand drawings into precise geometric shapes by holding the pen or cursor before releasing. The tool also supports a new ms-screenclip protocol that allows integration of Snipping Tool features into external applications. Notepad now includes an AI-powered Summarize feature to generate brief summaries of selected text. Additionally, Notepad adds a Recent Files section in the File menu.
