Opera 64 is out with New Built-In Tracker Blocker

A new version of the popular Opera browser is out. Version 64 adds a number of new features and improvements, including a new tracker blocker.

Opera is extending its web content filtering and privacy tools, which already the built-in ad blocker, and a "VPN" proxy server, which make it harder to track the user and improve the page loading speed.

In addition to them, Opera 64 now includes a built-in tracker blocker. It uses the EasyPrivacy Tracking Protection List to block known trackers on the web sites you browse.

If a specific web site doesn't work properly with the privacy options turned on, you can quickly disable the tracker blocker and/or ad blocker for that site using the shield icon in the address bar.

The flyout also shows the number of ads and trackers Opera has blocked.

It is possible to enable or disable this new feature directly from the quick setup menu of the app.

According to the official announcement, having trackers blocked increases the page load speed up to 20%. When combined with the built-in ad blocker, it can speed up page loading by around 76%.

Besides the tracker blocker, another major change in Opera 64 are new features in the Snapshot tool.

Now, you can save a website directly to PDF or capture the entire website from the top to the bottom. You can also crop out part of a website, capture it and then customize it. There are improvements made to its blurring and drawing tools. It is possible to add annotations using three fonts. You can use it to create memes with the popular Impact font which is also available for being used for text notes.
