.NET Framework 4.7.2 Offline Installer is out

Microsoft today released the final version of .NET Framework 4.7.2. The release is available for Windows 10 version 1709, 1703, 1607, Windows 8.1, Windows 7 , Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016. It is already integrated in Windows 10 version 1803. Here is how to get it.

The change log comes with a huge number of changes, including cryptographic enhancements, better decompression support for ZIP archives, and additional collection APIs. Some of its features are listed below.

  • New overloads of RSA.Create and DSA.Create
  • Rfc2898DeriveBytes constructors accept a hash algorithm name
  • Support for ephemeral keys
  • Programmatic creation of PKCS#10 certification signing requests and X.509 public key certificates
  • New SignerInfo members
  • Leaving a wrapped stream open after CryptoStream is disposed
  • Decompression changes in DeflateStream
  • Additional collection APIs

The .NET Framework 4.7.2 can be installed on Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7 SP1, and the corresponding server platforms starting with Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. You can install the .NET Framework 4.7.2 by using either the web installer or the offline installer. The recommended way for most users is to use the web installer.

Developers can target the .NET Framework 4.7.2 in Visual Studio 2012 or later by installing the .NET Framework 4.7.2 Developer Pack.

 

The .NET Framework 4.7.1 is supported on the following Windows Server versions:

  • Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Windows Server 2012
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

    I’d be curious to know how you got the working link to download the offline installer since, both from my workplace and home, the official link on microsoft’s own website is wrong (instead of linking to the offline installer, it links to a french language pack) ?_?
