Starting today, Microsoft is holding its Build 2024 event. The company is revealing a lot of information about devices and future of Windows and related development. On the first day of the event, the Redmond software giant claimed that it now recommends the Windows App SDK (along with WinUI 3) and WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) for building UI apps for Windows.
According to the company, for applications involving graphics and multimedia, it is recommended to use WinUI 3, whereas WPF is more appropriate when needing to utilize a wide range of controls and libraries from third-party developers.
Microsoft has recently revamped the controls in the WPF platform to align with the aesthetics of Windows 11. This adjustment allows developers to effortlessly design applications with user interfaces that seamlessly blend in with the latest Windows versions. The company assures its continual dedication to enhancing the WPF platform.
It's worth noting that Microsoft has been gradually introducing WinUI 3 into its Windows apps over the years. The company now intends to accelerate the adoption of WinUI 3 in key applications such as File Explorer, Photos, Dev Home, PowerToys, Phone Connectivity and others.
