Microsoft won’t release new Insider builds until the ‘Windows 11’ event

As everyone could expect, Microsoft has temporarily stopped releasing Windows 10 Insider builds in the Dev channel. Instead, the company will focus on testing the servicing system. This means that in the coming weeks, Insiders will receive several small cumulative updates for Build 21390, similar to the one released yesterday.

The official announcement says the following:

We have been testing our servicing pipeline with Cumulative Updates to the builds released to the Dev Channel. Each week, we would release a new build and then follow up with a Cumulative Update on top of that build before moving to the next build. However, we need to test the process of releasing multiple Cumulative Updates on top of each other on top of the same build. As a result of this, over the course of the next several weeks, our focus will be on releasing multiple Cumulative Updates on top of Build 21390. Having Insiders in the Dev Channel test this will be immensely helpful, and we’ll be back to flighting normally again soon!

However, the real reason for this decision is related to the upcoming presentation of the "new generation of Windows", which will take place on June 24. Until that moment, the company wants to keep the appearance and new features of the upcoming 'Sun Valley' project a secret.

Immediately after the presentation, Insider will probably receive a new pre-release build of 'Windows 11' on their devices. It is worth mentioning that this name has already been confirmed by some insiders, so there is practically no doubt that the system will be released exactly as Windows 11.
