Microsoft will launch the Xbox mobile games store in July 2024

The Xbox mobile game store will begin operating in July of this year, Xbox President Sarah Bond said at the Bloomberg Technology Summit event. Instead of creating an app, the company is working on a web version of the store. It will be available on all platforms, regardless of the current policies of Apple and Google. The dedicated apps have the lower priority for Microsoft.

The store will focus on original mobile games from various Microsoft studios. These titles include Call of Duty: Mobile and Candy Crush Saga. After some time, games from the corporation’s partners will appear on the platform.

There is no gaming platform or store that truly supports all devices - rewards and libraries are tied to one ecosystem, Bond emphasized. She added that Microsoft will try to fix this using its platform.

The corporation intends to implement the project, believing that Apple and Google will be forced to open their mobile application stores in accordance with the EU Digital Markets Act. Bond says Microsoft doesn't intend to wait for regulations to change in Europe and similar measures to be taken in the US. At some point, the company's platform will become a full-fledged competitor to Google and Apple, Bond is sure.
