Microsoft has released the source code for XAML Studio, a development environment designed for rapid user interface prototyping and graphical application development using the XAML markup language. XAML serves as a foundational component in the .NET Framework.
The XAML Studio codebase, written in C#, is now available on GitHub under the MIT License. Future development of the project will proceed under the stewardship of the .NET Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports open source initiatives within the .NET ecosystem.

XAML Studio provides an interactive code editor that allows developers to quickly design interfaces in real time. Users can immediately observe visual changes as they modify XAML code and interact with the application as if it were a standalone program. The environment also integrates a debugger and a data-binding editor to support comprehensive development workflows.
Current Release and Future Roadmap
The published source code corresponds to version 1.1 of XAML Studio. Based on the released sources, development of XAML Studio 2 has been started. The latter will introduce support for Fluent UI–based interface design, image and data loading capabilities, a properties editing and inspection panel, and a visual navigation panel for exploring property states.
